FAQ
____________________________________________
Q: Has it ever been used in competitions?
A : Yes, GYMWAY has been a supplier of IPF (International Powerlifting Federation) approved products for many years.
GYMWAY products are also used in many local and regional weightlifting competitions.
Weightlifting competition events where GYMWAY has been used:
RSA Coastal Weightlifting Championships 2017, 2018, 2019
RSA Western Province Senior Weightlifting Championships 2019
Q: What are the advantages of GYMWAY barbells?
A GYMWAY barbells have several unique and superior elements: steel material, tensile and yield strength, sleeve construction, coating, etc.
Steel Selection: GYMWAY has been sourcing high-quality steel materials from the most reputable Taiwanese steel mills for decades.
GYMWAY insists on using chrome-molybdenum alloy steel for its main barbell product lineup. This alloy steel has excellent tensile strength and contributes to additional corrosion resistance. Such alloy steel is typically used in industries such as energy, automotive, construction, and heavy machinery.
Over the years, the cost of steel in Taiwan has risen significantly, but we have never switched to another steel mill or used cheaper steel (such as spring steel). GYMWAY believes that consistent excellence is the key to our products.
With decades of manufacturing experience, GYMWAY has determined that the ideal tensile strength for a barbell is approximately 210,000 psi. Barbells made from this level of steel are extremely durable.
Barbells with a tensile strength below 180,000 psi should only be used for light weight training and should not be dropped as the risk of deformation is much higher.
GYMWAY's tensile strength and yield strength figures have been verified by an independent laboratory (see report below).
GYMWAY39
This metallurgical analysis was carried out by the Metals Industries Research and Development Center - MIRDC, an official government agency in Taiwan.
* Tensile strength: How long the barbell can hold before it breaks.
*Yield strength: How much weight the barbell can hold before it deforms (permanently bends).
SLEEVE CONSTRUCTION: GYMWAY's barbell sleeve construction has been awarded multiple patents in the U.S. and worldwide. Decades of research and development led us to abandon the traditional snap ring approach and invent a completely new sleeve construction. The new patented design allows the sleeve to spin smoother and the construction is sturdier, making it more reliable. This unique upgrade allows the sleeve to withstand impacts such as dropping the bar head vertically onto the floor without deforming or clogging the sleeve, unlike traditional snap ring system bars.
COPPER BUSHINGS: Ideal for powerlifting, general training, heavy and slow lifts. GYMWAY's exclusive self-lubricating bushing system ensures smooth rotation of the barbell.
NEEDLE BEARINGS: Ideal for weightlifting and high level Crossfit style training, GYMWAY's patented needle bearing system spins fast, yet at a controlled speed.
A bearing system that spins too fast or doesn't stop can put a lifter off balance, especially when used in Olympic lifts.
GYMWAY has spent decades of research and development consulting with many world-class athletes to fine-tune their needle bearing system.
As a result, it has been selected as one of the best in class competitive weightlifting barbells featured in many international competitions.
The current barbell market is full of questionable products. For example, barbells with tensile strengths of over 200,000 psi are sold for less than 30,000 yen. From a manufacturer's point of view, it is unlikely that a good barbell can be produced at that price range. When purchasing a barbell, ask yourself two questions: "Has the PSI value been verified by an independent laboratory?" and "What manufacturer's steel is used and can it be verified?"
